Saona from the cruise port

SeavisTours meets cruise passengers at the La Romana port and takes them by speedboat to Mano Juan village, its turtle project, Canto de la Playa and the natural pool. Book it if your ship docks at La Romana and you want the island's village and quieter beach rather than the party route.

Saona Crusoe for Cruise Passengers

About this experience

A coordinator meets you at the Taxi Casa de Campo stand at the La Romana cruise port. After booking you send the name of your ship so the team can match the transfer to your day in port. A van takes about 25 minutes to the boats, and a speedboat crosses Cotubanamá National Park to Saona.

The first long stop is Mano Juan, the island's only village, for a guided walk of about 1 hour 45 minutes. That includes a turtle sanctuary in Mano Juan, which moves at-risk nests and incubates the eggs until they hatch. Lunch is in the village. Then comes the best part for most guests: over two hours at Canto de la Playa for swimming and snorkelling, before a pass through the park and a stop at the natural pool.

Snorkel masks, fins, towels, park fees, drinks, tips and photos are listed as included. The guide speaks English and German. The thing to manage is your ship: this is a 9-hour day, so check your all-aboard time before you book. The listing does not give fixed start times, only those shown at checkout. Pregnant travellers, wheelchair users and anyone with back, heart or breathing problems should not book.
